Road and Vehicle Economics

In Europe, our studies are more of a modelling with a very practical nature - vehicle operating costs of specialized vehicles (lorries for carrying timber) and pavement management systems calibrated to local use, as in the case of Romania. Our modelling utilised the approach of using existing models, such as the World Bank's RED (Road Economic Development) model and HDM (Highway Design and Maintenance) model, and the AASHTO deterioration curve model for flexible pavements.

Pavement Management System in Romania

A government-level PMS project under the auspices of Search, Ltd. included translation of software programs to accommodate various engineering requirements from Romanian-based clients.

Economic Analysis of New Vehicle Types on a Rural Road (Eskdalemuir) in Scotland

This project focused on economic analysis of new type of truck (lorry) designed to transport timber. Performed for Roughton International, under subcontract to ITINERIS Global, a Colombian infrastructure company.
